How Long to Master Online Network Marketing?

January 9th, 2010 by Bob Howard

I was recently asked by someone new to online network marketing how long it would take them to learn all the techniques of online marketing. He suggested that it make take 20 or 40 or maybe 60 hours. Anyone has been doing network marketing for a while knows this answer and this is you never do. It is a continual process. First, there are so many different ways to market online it will take a long time just to understand each method. Second and more important is however you do it today most likely is not the same way you will do it six months from now.

This question led me to want to write this article. There are so many ways to market I will start by listing the most popular was that are used today and then pick one to focus on details. Some of the most popular ways to market online is to use the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, BetterNetworker, Myspace or Youtube. Other ways to market are Pay Per Click (PPC), writing articles, Banner Ads, solo ads, email marketing and many many more. As you may imagine each of these is very unique just as each web site or each book you read is different..

Just to understand how much detail there is to learn one technique I will pick one of the most popular ways to market which is Facebook and explain one way it can be used. Facebook is the 2nd most visited website in the world right after Google. There are hundreds of millions of people on Facebook and it is growing every day. Once you have created your account on Facebook and got your profile all setup, you will want to start adding friends. A good place to start is to search for groups of companies that are competitors to the one you are affiliated. Become members of those groups and begin to invite people as friends. Now if you invite too many friends at one time Facebook will see you as a threat and may disable your account. A good rule of thumb is to invite 50 people at a time. More than that can get you in trouble. Continue this process every day to grow your list of friends. In a few weeks you can have almost 1000 friends as long as you are consistent and do it every day.

Once you have grown a list of this size you will want to get as many as you can to optin to your web site. To do this you need to give your friend or prospect some value so that they want to do this. A very easy way to start when you are new is to invite your friends to free training webinars. For example, how to get your web site on the 1st page of Google for free. Do you think people would want to register for that? Of course they would. In no time you will have friends opting in to your web site to attend the free webinar.

You next task is to contact the prospect and discuss what they saw. At this point you are building a relationship with the prospect and in time some number of them will purchase something from you or join you in your primary business. Relationships take time to build and will not always happen right a way but some will and some will take some time. This can be enhanced by you making comments on their status updates or on their pictures over a period of time. A common phase I hear is people like doing business with other people not with computers or companies and this will talk time but will be rewarding. The speed varies a lot with each prospect but keep at it and you will indeed see a change in time.

This was a very brief look at this one method but I think you can see how this could be a very large task to understand in detail. It will take some time and eventually you will see results as you get to know the people better. You also should realize that I have only gone over one way to use Facebook where there are over twenty different ways to market on Facebook.

As you can see from this one example, there is so much to learn about marketing online you can appreciate that this is a very large endeavor and one that will take a long time to master. It is clear to me that the marketer that asked me the question had no idea what he was saying but it also made be reflect on how much I have learned in the time I have been doing this. Sometimes there are questions that take you back and this is one that did it for me.

Mastering network marketing is a life long task. To learn from one of the best visit Bob Howards marketing system.

Direct Network Marketing — How to Coach Your Downline

November 9th, 2009 by Todd Gleason

The biggest critical success factor in any direct network marketing opportunity is the ability to build a productive downline. Many direct network marketing companies tout their training programs but believe me most are completely inadequate or outdated for today’s business environment.

After being in this business for some time now, two things have become abundantly clear. First, you have to dispel the fact that your downline doesn’t have to do anything to make money. Hopefully your company doesn’t sell itself on “the easy road to riches” or “our product sells itself.” But if it does, be honest and give your new members a realistic view of what it is going to take to make money. This will let you quickly weed out those who will never succeed from those who are willing to work to get their business started.

The next thing you want to do is provide them with a realistic step by step approach to follow based on what you have done to be successful. This is that often talked about “duplication” effort. Building a roadmap for them based upon what you know has worked for you, will go much farther than some general training program on how to build a downline that the company might provide.

Here’s what I have done for my downline in the past. I’ve built a step by step program for them to follow. I’ve found that you have to have a web presence for any kind of success in direct network marketing today. So I laid out a detail approach of how to get a website up and running. This included how to register a domain name, how to find a good hosting service, what tools to use to build the content itself (e.g. how to install Wordpress) and how to build meaningful content based on keyword research.

I laid out a complete approach for getting traffic and list building. I showed them how and why list building is so critical to having a meaningful presence on the web. I showed them what it takes to start branding themselves as someone to trust and follow. Next, I laid out an approach for email marketing and how to go about promoting the direct network marketing opportunity to build their own downline.

I explained how becoming an affiliate marketer would provide multiple streams of income in addition to the business opportunity they were promoting. I showed them another reason for building a list and establishing a trusted relationship with their subscribers.

If you look at this approach and say to yourself — “that takes a lot of time and effort” — you’re right. It took time and effort to put the program together the right way. But believe me it was worth it. Once it was together it could be delivered by autoresponder to everyone who joined my team. Any questions were handled by email. Additional material was available on my website or I pointed them to some specialized training that I had used and found very helpful in specific areas. This is a worthwhile effort that will pay for itself very quickly. Try it and you’ll be able to provide valuable coaching to your downline.

How to Recognize a Good Direct Network Marketing Opportunity

November 8th, 2009 by Todd Gleason

If you are ever told you can make money with an opportunity and you don’t have to sell anything or the product “sells itself,” look for another opportunity. Let’s face it, how does a company or one of its distributors make any money without selling a product or service? Unfortunately most opportunities promote themselves as easy money. They’re trying to attract the hoards of people out there looking for easy money in the hope that they’ll get a few who will turn into real super stars for the business. Look for companies that tell a realistic story about the work it takes to get a business started and what it takes to achieve success.

One of the things that I have always found annoying was the fact that in order to find out the details of some opportunities, you had to spend $40 or $50 on a “start-up kit” to get any information other than how great an opportunity it is. Any opportunity that’s worth anything should let you get all the details before requiring and monetary commitment. The best opportunities will allow you to join for free.

I have found the best direct network marketing opportunities provide both multiple products and multiple streams of income. By this I don’t mean multiple tiers of commission payments. I mean multiple ways to earn income in the program. This could include commission overrides on your personally sponsored downline, product sales to non-members, shares of company sales, etc. Look around. There are some very lucrative opportunities out there. But don’t think it comes with little or no work.

Training and support are all things to think about and you want them to be provided — the more the better. But avoid those opportunities that do everything for you. Many will provide replicated websites as a way to get you started quickly. It will get you started quickly, but at what cost. These sites that hundreds of other people are promoting DO NOT WORK! You need to have your own web presence to brand yourself.

Certainly you want to be associated with a company that is going to be around for a while. The best way to judge that is to look at its track record. A company should have been around for at least 5 years and ideally 10 or more.

Take some time to choose wisely. It will benefit you in the long run — unless of course you are looking for that easy money opportunity. Then just take the first one that you see promising riches overnight.

Direct Network Marketing — Best Source of Targeted Leads

October 28th, 2009 by Todd Gleason

Finding targeted leads is the life blood of any direct network marketer. But the times have changed in the network marketing business. It is getting more difficult everyday to find a continuing supply of good qualified leads. Traditionally many network marketers have bought lead lists. But unfortunately many times these are rehashed leads that have grown cold over time. Most contact information on these lists becomes outdated and many people forget they even signed up to receive information on business opportunities.

If you’re tired of beating your head against the wall trying to get these prospects to convert, there is a better way. It is a way that has good qualified prospects coming to you rather than you searching to find them. You need to start today to become an internet marketer. Doing this is essential to your survival in today’s increasingly competitive direct network marketing environment.

If you don’t have a website, go and get one right now. It only costs about $10 to register a domain name for a year — sometimes less. Start branding yourself. People join a person they know and trust; not a network marketing company by itself.

You want to have people find your message or offer on the web who want to find out more about it. This is the best source of targeted leads. These are people who interested and ready to join your opportunity. You will have a much higher conversion rate with these people than trying to generate interest from a list of cold emails that purchased from somewhere.

Once you have your website you’ll need to start generating traffic. There are basically two types of traffic — paid and free. I would recommend you start with the free traffic sources. It will take a little longer but it will be a lot less expensive.

You want to get your website ranked high in the search engines (e.g. on first page of Google) so your message is seen by people searching for business opportunities. You’ll need to do some research to find out what keywords people are searching on. You’ll want to build your website around these keywords and other related keywords to get ranked.

You’ll want to eventually build your own list of people that you can directly market to. This will become the greatest asset of your business. These people will join your list because they are interest in what you have to offer. Think about it. When you sponsor people into your network marketing opportunity, that list belongs to the company. Many organizations have very strict rules about what you can and can’t do with your downline. The company goes away and your list goes away. Protect it.

Build a long term asset — your list — outside of any one specific business opportunity. If you do that you’ll generate high quality targeted leads for your current opportunity and a readymade list for other business opportunities and services that you might want to offer.

How To Generate Free MLM Leads Using SEO Networker Strategies

October 27th, 2009 by Amir Shkolnik

You don’t have to be SEO expert in order to generate free MLM leads Using seo strategies. Unbelievably search engine optimization is not that hard. There may be times when it is tiring or annoying and you might get a touch agitated but it is not difficult. All you need are a few basic rules and you will be set.

So we want to take a few moments and go over the Dos and Don’ts to being an SEO Networker. It will help guide you to a better way to generate free MLM leads.

SEO Networker Mastermind Dos:

1. The Natural Approach– It used to be that writing was a technical delegacy online. However, thanks to blogs, forums, and social networking sites, having a natural and conversational approach will make your article flow. This will help you with humans, and with the search engines.

2. Link Building– One of the most important things you can do as an SEO Networker, is creating links back to your site. Search engines basically drool over this, but just make sure they are good quality links. Whether it’s through articles, purchasing them, exchanging or anything else, it will help you generate leads.

3. Site Optimization– Even though you may think creating a site for the search engines is key, it’s actually creating it for humans which are important. Granted, you still want to have valuable keywords, but you also want to have informative and helpful content on your niche.

4. Delegate and Automate– Whenever you have the opportunity to do this by yourself, don’t be tempted. If you use good software it can help process and outsource SEO to other people.

SEO Networker Mastermind Don’ts:

1. Not a one-time deal– SEO will be a task that goes on constantly. Results will not be instant or even quick. Do not throw all your work out there at one time, add content, links and pages gradually.

2. Don’t Focus on Google– Yes, they are the biggest on the internet, but they aren’t the only one. There are other people who use other search engines, and you should take advantage of it. Plus Google loves changing their ranking algorithms more often than others. Try to rank well on Yahoo, MSN, and Google.

Even though these seem like minor issues, they can be extremely detrimental to your business. If you don’t maximize your SEO Networker capabilities to the fullest, you won’t be able to generate free MLM leads. Well, maybe a few, but definitely not the kind of numbers you had originally hoped. So take all of this to heart, and utilize it in your daily routine. You will eventually see a huge boost in your traffic.
